Jury finds Pride guilty in 3-year-old’s death

FLORENCE — A Lauderdale county jury today found Yalrick Zeonsha Pride guilty of felony murder in the Aug. 12, 2020, beating death of 3-year-old Kaiden Garner.

The jury deliberated for approximately two hours before re aching the verdict. Lauderdale County Circuit Court Judge Ben Graves set a Sept. 27 sentencing date.

Felony murder is punishable by up to life in prison.

Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly said the verdict was "a huge relief but it's not a happy day. We met with them as a group afterward and it was very somber."

Pride's attorney, Leigh Anne Landis, said she plans to appeal the case.

Lauderdale County Sheriff's deputies immediately took the 23-year-old Pride into custody following the verdict announcement.
