“Something Rotten!” is a hilarious, high-energy musical comedy set in 1595, following the Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel, as they struggle to make a name for themselves in the shadow of William Shakespeare—who’s treated like a rock star. Desperate to outshine the Bard, they consult a soothsayer who predicts that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting all at once: the musical. Determined to write the world’s first, the brothers dive into outrageous situations, wild misunderstandings, and over-the-top numbers. Packed with clever humor, Renaissance-era absurdity, and endless Broadway references, it’s a joyful, irreverent celebration of theatre itself.
